Historic Building 50

Historic Building 50 is at the heart of The Village at Grand Traverse Commons. This visionary redevelopment encompasses the picturesque building, cottages and grounds formerly home to the Traverse City State Hospital.

The Victorian-Italianate brick buildings are surrounded by hundreds of acres of preserved park land and woodland. Best of all, this gem is located just over a mile from Grand Traverse Bay and Downtown Traverse City!

When the renovation is complete, The Village will feature a full range of residential options (studio apartments, modest and luxury condominiums, and live-work units); as well as a range of commercial options, including shopping, specialty foods, dining, offices, and art space.

Pillars Suite is located on the second floor - #211. The space is a soothing and relaxing environment in which to hold any meeting or workshop.

Neahtawanata Inn

A bed and breakfast retreat located on the Old Mission Peninsula that divides the Grand Traverse Bay into East and West bays. Cherry orchards dot the landscape as you approach the beach-front structure originally built in 1885. Although it has been renovated with all the "creature comforts", including wheelchair access, it still retains its old-world charm.

Overnight accommodations are available. Just contact Innkeepers Sally & Bob to enjoy their cozy, comfortable, relaxed home. Located approximately 20 minutes from downtown Traverse City.

Whispering Waters
Bed and Breakfast Retreat

As you slowly drive down the half-mile stretch of lane separating your destination from the rest of the world, an awareness of nature and your place in it will begin to heighten your senses. Whether you enter in the hushed and frozen silence of winter with every twig outlined by a fresh blanket of snow, or in the summer with long grasses gently brushing the sides of your car and dragonflies diving at you in friendly welcome, you will feel a sense of peace and delight.

You are invited to hike up the trail that takes you into a magnificent forest. Follow the converging streams to their sources near the top of the hill. Sit and watch the springs bubbling from beneath the ground. Find a mossy rock or stump to lean against and feel the liberation of just being with yourself and the land.

A variety of accommodations are available, from suites to individual cabins. Contact them directly. Located approximately 15 minutes from downtown Traverse City.
